AETHER: Sin City

How Can We Help You Miss Jones?
"Find out where they are keeping my uncle's.... ghost...."

A call from a distraught damsel.

Alan Bigsworth, gentleman gambler, returned a phone call to a Miss Felicity Jones. Distraught and fearful, the sultry vixen & the gambler set up a meeting at the Sands Hotel & Casino that night.

Professor Brinks & the ghost of Dr. Watson were grading papers in their office at LVCC when they received a phone call from Bigsworth telling them to meet him at the Sands Hotel & Casino for their meeting that night.

AETHER gets a case.

Professor Brinks was delayed but, Lord Bigsworth and Dr. Watson were able to make it in time. Entering the Sands Hotel & Casino, our two English heroes ran into Louis, the fourth part of the AETHER team, working as a maintenance worker, to help pay his bills.

Louis was able to direct Bigsworth and Dr. Watson to where Miss Jones was singing in the lounge.

While on her break, Bigsworth & Dr. Watson interviewed the beautiful Miss Felicity. It seems that her uncle, Arthur Jones, the Las Vegas talent mogul had been kidnapped and was being help for ransom. The catch, Arthur Jones, is dead, who ever kidnapped him, had kidnapped his ashes and summoned his spirit. They would only release the spirit if they were paid $20,000. Felicity Jones, didn’t believe that $30,000 would be the end of it, and she wanted AETHER to try find out where Mr. Jones’ ghost was being held.

Once AETHER finds the spirit, they are to let Felicity know who had kidnapped Arthur Jones, so that she could deal with them. If they are able to recover the Spirit there will be a bonus, if they are able to recover the ransom…. well that would be very very welcome.

Miss Jones explained that she was to deliver the ransom to a locker in the bus station at midnight that night, and that the money was not her own, but had been borrowed from a friend.

Just as Miss Jones left our heroes to continue to sing, Professor Brinks arrived and noticed that a German looking man had been observing Miss Jones, Bigsworth and Dr. Watson.

Brink (noticed also by the German) told his associates and they decided to come up with a plan over dinner. Perhaps play a game or two. Louis splurged, buying dinner for everyone, Bigsworth and Professor Brinks lost their last dime gambling.

The Plan in Action.

Dr Watson haunted Miss Jones necklace and watch he deliver the money, and then haunt the money bag. He would then be able to track whoever takes the money. Which he was able to, undetected, discovering that the money was being delivered to the Duew Estate.

Watson also discovered that Miss Jones had borrowed the money from the Sands casino and that she really needed it back. Or the mob would be upset.

Louis, the only hero who had not been noticed by the mysterious burglar, disguised himself as a janitor and waited near the lockers, while Bigsworth and Professor Brinks tried to act casual outside the Bus Station.

Miss Jones came came into the Bus Station at midnight, and placed the money into the locker, as instructed.

Thirty minuets later, the German that Professor Brinks had seen previously entered the station and retrieved the money from the locker. Entering a car outside he sped away, leaving a rather large goon to try and intimidate Professor Brinks.

The goon failed to intimidate Brinks, but did hold him back from jumping into a cab with Bigsworth.

The chase was on, Dr. Watson haunting the bag of money in the German’s car, Bigsworth in a cab, following, and Louis driving the AETHER bus, with Professor Brinks.

Watson managed to return to the bus, haunting his newly found corpse and explaining to Brinks where the German was headed. The two of them then did some CLUE HUNTING to find out more information on the Duew Estate.

Discovering that it was the house of Virgil and Gertrude Duew, Brinks remembered that he had been there before…. in a sexual encounter with Gertrude.

Watson returned to the money bag as the German’s car turned to enter the Duew Estate. And traveled with the German (haunting the bag) into the estate.

Meanwhile our other heroes scaled the estate wall, and tried to stealthily sneak into the estate, failing they were set upon by by German Goons, our heroes easily dispatched them but not without alerting the household to their presence.

During this, Watson was inside trying to get some information. He discovered that Virgil Duew seemed to be completely cowed by his wife. and that she was the ringleader. Upstairs in the house, she had Arthur Jones’ spirit bound do his urn and was ranting and raving at him, demanding that he give he the combination to a safe, and that if he didn’t things would go badly for his niece.

So Much for the Plan.

The others ran into the house using the side door. Coming in the back they were able to surprise Virgil and some of Gertrude’s goons. Subduing them rather quickly and giving Watson a fresh corpse to haunt.

Vigril, terrified, agreed to hide in the closet, while the heroes mounted the stairs to confront Gertrude.

Bigsworth, Professor Brinks and Louis attacked the German Goons, the German Spy and Gertrude (who was attempting to cast some sort of dark spell) while Watson possessed a corpse and managed to spirit away both the ransom and Arthur’s urn.

After the conflict, the goons and spy were dead, and Gertrude had need captured. Virgil offered to give a reward, but our heroes disagreed, asking that only Virgil cover up the incident.
